The Library mobile app ("the app") is provided by the University of Arts Sharjah library ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and your choices.
What we collect
The app works with your university library account and communicates only with the university's own library system. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics services.
- Account information — your email address and name, used to sign you in and identify your account.
- Library activity — your loans, reservations, renewals, due dates, and searches, used to provide the service.
- Membership number — shown as a barcode so you can use self-checkout.
- Profile photo — only if you choose to upload one.
- Notification token — a device token used to send you alerts (e.g. a reserved book is ready, or a due-date reminder).
Device permissions
- Camera — used only to scan book and membership barcodes. Images are processed on your device and are not stored or transmitted.
- NFC (where supported) — used only to read library RFID tags on your device; tag data is not transmitted.
- Biometrics — if you enable biometric sign-in, your fingerprint/face is handled by your device's secure hardware; we never receive it, and only your existing app session is unlocked.
How your data is handled
- Data is sent only to the university's library server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- We do not sell your data or share it with third parties.
- Your session credentials are stored securely on your device (encrypted keystore).
Guest browsing
You can browse the catalogue, new arrivals, and search without signing in. Guest browsing does not collect personal data, and never reveals who has borrowed a particular item.
Your choices
- You can remove your profile photo or sign out at any time in the app.
- To access, correct, or delete your personal data, contact the library at library@uas.ac.ae.
Children
The app is intended for university students, staff, and library members.
